In summer 2015, dementia was set as an early priority for the Greater Manchester devolution programme, with two key aims:
- To improve the lived experience of people with dementia and their carers
- To reduce pressure on the health and social care system
Quite simply, Dementia United aims to make Greater Manchester the best place in the world to live for people with dementia. Our programme is being co-produced with citizens as partners and will formally launch in spring 2016.
Over the coming months we will be working to identify people and organisations to join our stakeholder group and identifying the challenges we will need to address to achieve our goal. Our design seeks to encourage people to monitor their health, enrich their lives and connect with their communities in an attempt to prevent progression, loneliness, isolation and frustration.
As Dementia United develops, our website will be continually updated. We encourage anyone interested in playing a part in this work to get in touch via our contact page.
